What a cake!

Surprise your friend, mom or birthday hero with a home-baked cake. Restaurant Juuri’s baker created a recipe which includes chocolate and strawberries. Best served with coffee or a bubbly drink.

Yum, yum, yum.

Summer Petit Fours

4 eggs
1 ¾ c sugar
2/5 c cream
7/8 c melted butter
½ c melted chocolate
4/5 c flour
2/5 c cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder 
Beat the sugar with the eggs. Add the cream. Mix the melted butter and chocolate together and add to the batter. Mix the dry ingredients together and stir into the wet ingredients, folding carefully. 

Pour the batter into a 12” x 9” pan. Bake at 325ºF for 20–30 min, until done. Baker’s tip: you can easily tell whether or not a cake is ready by sticking a toothpick into it – if the toothpick comes out clean, the cake is ready.

Let the cake cool down before cutting into rounds. Each round should be about 2 in across; stack them into petit fours of 2–3 layers.


¾ c milk chocolate
3 oz plain cream cheeseCarefully melt the chocolate. Work and warm the cream cheese slightly before stirring into the chocolate. 

Fill the petit fours with the chocolate filling and slices of fresh strawberry. Frost with rolled fondant.
